Have you seen ads with celebrities asking people to download an app that can make kids “fall in love with learning” It is a commercial for BYJU’S-The Learning App. BYJU’S is an Edtech company that had set out in the year 2011 on a mission to help students in academics and to make them lifelong learners.
Is BYJU’S just another Edtech company or is there more to it? Is BYJU’S helping society in general?
The beginning of 2020 saw the COVID-19 pandemic take the world by surprise and disrupt many sectors, including education. India is the largest education system in the world with more than 270 million children in schools. The Coronavirus impacted nearly 80% of the world’s enrolled student population.
RISING TO THE OCCASION
BYJU’S announced free access to its learning app to all school students, across the 1st-12th grade, until the end of April 2020. Students with the free version of the app could also access the complete learning content to help them prepare for the upcoming examinations. BYJU’S was the only Indian application in the list of UNESCO’s distance learning solutions during the lockdown.
LEVEL-PLAYING FIELD
In a country as diverse as India, access to quality teachers, curriculum, and schools is scarce and unequal. Wealth disparity and urban-rural divide are some of the factors. BYJU’S creates a level playing field. It gives everyone a shot at a quality education. Students from all nooks and corners can access and learn from good teachers at a time of their choice, at their own pace, and at a place of their liking.
A SUPPORT SYSTEM FOR PARENTS
In India, like most developing countries, education is the only way to raise yourself from whatever circumstances you are from, be it poverty, backwardness, etc. The parents fully understand this and do whatever it takes to give the best possible education to their kids. This is exactly where BYJU’s is partnering with parents.
BYJU’S Parent Connect: This app helps parents stay up-to-date with their child’s progress and performance from BYJU’S Learning App. A child performs best when her parents help them in their studies on an ongoing basis. The Parent Connect app is designed to provide a real-time update to the parents that helps them be more involved with the child’s progress.
BYJU’s has tied up with various NBFCs and Banks to offer affordable or interest-free EMI options. This greatly helps parents who cannot pay lumpsum fees. The BYJU’s app is not only marginally cheaper than conventional coaching centers, but it also is logistically convenient.
HELPING JOB ASPIRANTS
Their flyer says “IAS 2020 – Dare to Dream!” Not only is BYJU’s fueling aspirations but enabling them to achieve what they aspire. Competitive exams require tons of preparation and time. For individuals juggling between a job or a college degree, time may be in short supply. Online learning platforms like BYJU’S can help such aspirants study at their convenience.
GIVE YOUNGER GENERATIONS A BETTER START
Digital learning modules can help young minds get access to innovative learning methods, and BYJU’S is doing just that. They have curated interactive modes of learning even for kids studying in the kindergarten.
